Can We Use Tarp as a Canopy?

A canopy tent will work well for your outdoor space as it will offer a lot of benefits. It will provide shade for the campaign when you are having a backyard party. Besides, you can also host many fun activities that would encourage the kids to play outdoors. A shady canopy can be used to protect cars and other items from sunlight and rain. No doubt there is a pre-built canopy available in the store, but nothing can be more satisfying than building your own. You can find good PVC tarp that can be used to make strong and robust canopies that will last for a long time and offer optimum protection.

Making a Canopy

If you have decided to build a canopy of your own, then it is essential that you find yourself a good quality tarp in the right size. Remember, the size will depend entirely on your specific requirement. Also, you need to get good grommets. Further, having a nylon rope, 7 to 8 feet tent pole and 8 to 10 feet tent pole is required to complete the canopy. The process might seem tough, but it is a lot easier. Just make sure when buying PVC tarpaulin, you are careful enough to consider the quality and the colour of the same.

Now for making a canopy shade, you need to prepare the area first. For this, clean any debris or dirt accumulated in the area where you want to build a canopy. Now you need to spread the tarp on the ground. Once done with that, use the 7 to 8 feet poles along the four corners of the tarp and fit the end into the circular grommet. You need to secure each of the poles using a strong rope. This will keep it protected against the storm.

Now you have to take help from another family member to carefully lift the post so that the tarp can be held up in the air. Ideally, you need one person to hold the pole at each corner. It is teamwork to complete the process. Now pull one rope towards the ground and take it away from the middle portion of the canopy. Once the rope is fully stretched, you can attach it to the ground by hammering it. Follow the same technique for the other areas. The pole present in the middle area will give the canopy shade and offer proper support. This is where you will have to use an additional 8 to 10 feet tent pole. Place the pole towards the centre of the tarp, then push upward. Now secure the pole to the ground. Lastly, you need to tighten the canopy until you get a smooth surface. This will ensure a smooth surface.
